What You Need to Know About Epic Universe

If you're already a fan of Universal Orlando, you're probably watching the buzz around their newest theme park: Epic Universe. I had the chance to experience it recently, and let me tell you: it’s worth the wait.

Here’s a practical look at what to expect, who it’s best for, and a few tips to help you plan ahead.

What Is Epic Universe, Exactly?

Epic Universe will be Universal Orlando’s fourth theme park (after Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure, and Volcano Bay). It’s located a short drive from the main Universal complex and will feature five immersive “worlds,” each designed as its own contained land with rides, food, and entertainment. Think of it like Diagon Alley at Universal—but times five.

Here’s a preview of what’s coming:

  • Celestial Park – The entry hub to Epic Universe, filled with lush gardens, family-friendly attractions, and relaxing paths.

  • Super Nintendo World – Yes, Mario Kart and Mushroom Kingdom fans—this is for you.

  • The Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Ministry of Magic – A blend of the British and French wizarding worlds, themed after the Fantastic Beasts era.

  • How to Train Your Dragon: Isle of Berk – Perfect for families, with Viking village vibes and dragon-themed rides.

  • Dark Universe – A gothic, cinematic land inspired by Universal’s classic monsters, with a thrill ride twist.

Who Will Love Epic Universe?

This park is built for multi-generational groups. Whether you have young kids who want to meet dragons, teens who want thrills, or grown-ups who love great food and immersive design, there’s a little something for everyone. It’s not just about rides—it’s about stepping into the world of your favorite stories.

I especially think it’s a great choice for:

  • Families with tweens and teens who’ve outgrown some of Disney’s more gentle attractions

  • Adults who love immersive environments but don’t want to feel overwhelmed by wall-to-wall characters

  • Nintendo fans of any age—trust me, that land will be a major highlight

A Few Takeaways from My Visit

My personal favorites lands - Super Nintendo World and Isle of Berk!

Walking through Super Nintendo World felt like stepping into a video game—complete with interactive elements, power-up bands, and the kind of visual detail that made even adults around me light up with joy. It reminded me of playing Mario on the Gameboy during car rides, definitely the nostalgia feels for me.

Isle of Berk was the most unexpectedly magical part of Epic Universe for me. It feels like you’ve stepped into a Viking village at the edge of the world—complete with dragon training arenas, roaring coasters, and playful water features. Kids will love the interactive play zones, and fans of the How to Train Your Dragon movies (yes, even the grown-up ones) will be grinning ear to ear. It’s adventurous, scenic, and surprisingly heartwarming.

What to Know If You’re Planning Ahead

  • Epic Universe is open!

  • A new Universal hotel will be on-site, within walking distance of the park—a great option for early access and ease. We stayed here for our visit and I loved being right there!

I’m already working with families, friend groups, and fans planning Epic Universe trips—and I’d love to help you build a vacation that fits your style, budget, and pace. Whether you want to pair it with time at Universal’s existing parks, build in rest days, or create a multi-generational adventure, I’ve got you covered.

Let’s start dreaming up your next big getaway.
